This 2.2-mile trail follows the ridge along the south side of the Patapsco, but, with all the trees, you'll have to struggle to catch a glimpse of the road below, much less the river.
The climb to the ridge from River Road is about 200 feet if you start on the Avalon end of the trail. About midway along this trail are some interesting ruins and a small shelter next to a stream that makes a nice place to have lunch. Deer are often seen along this trail on weekdays when there are fewer bikers than on the weekends. Less prone to muddiness compared to many of the trails on this side of the river, one is likely to see joggers on this trail in the afternoons.
