Organ Mountain Hikes

The Organ Mountains lie about 15 miles to the east of Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Largely composed of granite, they have eroded leaving pinnacles and crags.  The tallest, Organ Needle, reaches 9,012 feet.  US 70 crosses the mountains east of Las Cruces on it's way to Alamogordo at San Augustin Pass--5,750 feet.

Two designated hiking trails begin at Aguirre Spring Campground on the east side of the mountains--Baylor Pass and Pine Tree.  The Baylor Pass Trail continues to a trailhead on the west side of the mountains.  Other trails on the west side start at Dripping Springs.
