Castle Crags State Park
The summit of the highest granite crag is over 6,500’. Much of the nearby Sacramento River canyon was heavily logged and mined after the Southern Pacific arrived in 1886. Chromium mines operated until the 1950s in one part of Castle Crags.
From the Vista Point, it's also possible to see Mt. Shasta.
